Social Media Graphic: Umbrellarina
This assignment tasked us with designing a social media graphic showcasing a design style of our choosing. This project showcases my ability to conceptualize designs, illustrate, and utilize Adobe Illustrator.

I kept sketching until I found a concept that I resonated with. I gravitated towards either the umbrella design or the leaf fish design.

I kept sketching more concepts. Thumbnails are a great way to get the creative juices flowing.
After selecting a design, I moved over into illustrator. I knew I wanted to play with a pink color palette and create some over exaggerated raindrops. I played around with a couple of different poses and decided to use the same shape as the pole for her arms, and place them in an upwards motion to show some movement.

This was my original design. Though I was satisfied with it at the time, I can now see some areas that needed to be improved. Since I have been sharpening my illustrator skills, I knew this design would be top choice for a revamp in my current class. I knew I wanted to keep the same concept, but make a few adjustments including softening the shapes of the bodice, changing the pose, adjusting the font, and adding more texture.

For my revamp, I completely changed the color palette. I utilized the generative AI feature to create the umbrella and bodice textures. I made the pole 3D and selected a wood texture for it. Her pose was changed along with the length of her hair. I chose to do more raindrops to really emphasize the umbrella factor and went for a bolder font face to create more visual hierarchy throughout the design. Finally, I decided to frame her head with the name of the museum to create a halo-like design. Overall I feel that this was a good improvement of the previous design.
