Social Media Graphic: Phantasmagoria Showing
This assignment challenged us to create a social media graphic for an event of our choosing. This project showcases my ability to create social media graphics utilizing Adobe Illustrator.
Thumbnails:
As always, I began by sketching out my thumbnails. Phantasmagoria was basically a scary movie showing in the Victorian era. Clever use of a magic lantern projected frightening images for the viewers. I felt immediately connected to the people of the past, because I personally still love to watch scary movies and experience the hair-raising thrill of being scared.
Final Image:
My first rendition of this project included an eyeball with a ghost in it. While I do like the concept, I felt it was lacking a bit of detail in the eyeball and the overall imagery. I also used too many font faces, which overwhelmed the design quite a bit.
Revised Image:
I decided to take inspiration from Victorian era newspapers. I found a nice old paper textured background and a script font reminiscent of that used in an old newspaper.
