Art Nouveau Poster Redesign
For this project, we were tasked with creating a poster that represents a specific art style in history. I decided to select Art Nouveau, after quickly becoming enamored with the intricacy of the style and beautiful floral designs. This showcases my ability to create using Adobe Illustrator.
For the first rendition, I decided to do the ornate frame. I wanted to create something simple yet beautiful to pay homage to the art nouveau style, however, I did not allow much time so my final looked very rushed. This was not something that I felt particularly proud of having in my portfolio, so when I discovered we would be revisiting some old projects, I knew this would be high up on my list.
Original Rendition:
My goal was to create a sun-like effect within an ornate frame. While I did manage to represent a sun in the middle, the rest of the piece lacked finesse and looked incomplete. The shape inside of the frame overlapped the corners, the text color is too light, and the color palette was unsatisfactory.
Revised Rendition:
For the revision, I decided to go for a more traditional and detailed art nouveau style. I chose a botanical green color palette and framed my abstract shape with vines. The chosen font is representative of the time period and lends itself well to the overall design.
